When people need medication adjusted, a yearly check up or to discuss current or future health care needs, they speak to their primary care physician. If someone has suffered from a life threatening accident and requires life-saving treatment, they are rushed to the emergency room.
But what if the injury or ailment needs to be addressed as soon as possible but isn’t life threatening? This is where Sheridan Memorial Hospital Urgent Care comes into play.
Dr. David Nickerson is an Emergency Medicine Board Certified physician working at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Clinic. He told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse where urgent care fits into the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Bone fractures, sprains and muscle strains, cuts that require stitches, work related injuries, rashes and non-life threatening burns and much more are taken care of by Dr. Nickerson and the rest of the team at the Urgent Care Clinic. In the cases that may require it, the doctor and nurse practitioners at the clinic may schedule a follow-up appointment with their primary care physician after taking care of a patient’s needs, as well as prescribe or refill medications.
With the advent of technology and security, the Urgent Care Clinic has also begun to see patients with telehealth, saving time and travel time for patients.
Patients have the option of walk-ins or to make an appointment. To learn more about the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Clinic or to make an appointment, click here.
