JCHC Moving Forward with Phase One Remodel Plans

The Johnson County Healthcare Center is still looking at a remodel project for their facility and the board of trustees received an updated look at the projects for the Phase One Master Plan from Dan Odasz with Plan One Architects at their recent meeting.
Part of the remodel was originally planned to include an update to the pharmacy to be able to mix chemotherapy drugs, but the board decided to discontinue providing chemotherapy treatment back in December of 2019, so that costly remodel will not have to be done.
Odasz explained the modified plan for the remodel will include smaller projects within the existing building as opposed to an addition onto the building, which is far more cost effective.
He explains more about what the focus of the initial remodel plan will
be.
Odasz said there would also be remodeling and updates of patient rooms and the nurses’ station in that wing as well.
The plan is to close portions of the area during the remodel while still using others in that wing.
The board asked Odasz to bring cost estimates and options for the phased remodel project to a future meeting for them to consider and determine the path for funding options.
