The Wyoming Legislature wrapped up the 2023 General Session Friday at the State Capitol in Cheyenne. Governor Mark Gordon, during a media conference Tuesday, talked about the historic amount of money lawmakers put into savings this year.

Gordon addressed the importance of setting aside over $1.3 billion.

Gordon was asked if he thought there were any missed opportunities in the budget.

Gordon said suicide continues to be an extraordinary huge challenge for Wyoming and he remains hopeful that future legislatures will look at it as importantly as he does.

    With our gov’t awash in money, why didn’t they give us a tax break. They could have cut the state-mandated 4% sales tax down to 3%. They could have temporarily capped property taxes for all, or at least for seniors being “taxed-out” of a house they’ve “owned” for years. If they really cared about us, they’d have provided some tax relief for the many suffering from inflation. Yes, I’m glad the state is saving for a rainy day, now give us a chance, too.
