State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan, Johnson Counties), in his weekly talk with Sheridan Media from the legislative session, discussed direct distribution to local governments in the state by the Wyoming Legislature.

He explains exactly what direct distribution is.

Kinskey said in the long run, Wyoming’s local governments need to help themselves bolster their budgets.

According to Kinskey, there was a bill at one time that was proposed where cities and counties could go to voters and get another penny sales tax and keep it all for themselves but they chose not to, not wanting to ask voters to back another 1% tax.

Kinskey feels local governments would be better off imposing a local tax as opposed to relying as heavily on Cheyenne for so much of their revenue.
