Travis Lawrence, representing the Buffalo Outdoor Pool Board, spoke to the city council during their last meeting to update them on this year’s summer season and to discuss what to expect in the coming year.

Lawrence said the ppol had some highlights and some low points but overall it was a good year, with plans still moving forward on improvements at the facility.

He talked about raw numbers for the season.

On the positive side, Lawrence said admissions were up about 12% over last year, which were 42,000 over 37,000 through the gate.

The Kate Holt Memorial Swim Meet was also a success this year, which he attributed to a later date in the summer and warmer weather.

They had a $25,000 contribution from Walter Holt to the Buffalo Charitable Fund earmarked for the pool, and an anonymous donor that purchased new starting blocks for swim meets.

He also reported that the concession stand lost over $2,000 in sales compared to 2021 which he said was believed to be due to product not being stocked properly or at all, and therefore were not able to sell it.

He said the board will be watching that problem in the future.
