Sheridan County has adopted an update to their Comprehensive Plan.

The state has required cities and counties to have a comprehensive land-use plan since the 1970s, and the current 2020 plan is the fourth iteration for Sheridan County, essentially just an update of the 2008 plan, according to County Planner Mark Reid.

Reid said the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended some minor changes to the plan, which were accepted by the county commission.

Joanne Garnett, with Orion Planning and Design, gave a presentation on the updated comprehensive plan, after which, Commissioner Terry Cram thanked her and her team for compiling the plan.

According to the Sheridan County website, the Comprehensive Plan outlines the county’s vision and goals for the future and provides guidance for staff and elected and appointed officials to determine directions and make choices about short and long-range needs.
