Approximately a year out from kick off, the Sheridan Main Street Rehabilitation Project will replace infrastructure and roadway 2 – 3 blocks at a time to minimize interruption to businesses.

According to the City, the scope of the project will include resurfacing of 0.56 miles of Main Street from Dow Street to Burkitt St. The Wyoming Department of Transportation project will include a new blended base, new concrete surfacing, selected sidewalk and curb and gutter replacement, American with Disabilities Act upgrades to correct existing deficiencies along with upgrades to traffic signal poles and associated infrastructure such as signal cabinets, control boxes, pull boxes, etc.

According to Sheridan City Administrator Stu McRae, the emplaced infrastructure has existed since 1973.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, McRae told listeners that the City and WYDOT are working to minimize potential distributions to downtown access and traffic.

While WYDOT removes old road surfaces, the City of Sheridan will replace the existing water transmission, sanitary sewer main, and any needed repairs to the existing storm sewer system, as well as placement or upgrades of various enhancements.

Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger said the proposed 2 – 3 block construction process will also minimize any distributions to downtown businesses while working to complete the large project in a timely manner.

McRae said the 2023 WYO Rodeo Parade will have to take an alternative route but it will remain the traditional parade, simply diverted.
