The Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center have voted to add a respiratory therapist (RT) to the facility, after discussing the idea with CEO Luke Senden at their recent meeting.

Senden explained how the subject of adding an RT came about, saying Dr. Amber Kinner wanted to bring a program back to the JCHC.

Senden said he had discussions with Mark Lyons with Casey Peterson CPAs & Financial Planners, who prepare the cost analysis reports for the JCHC, about how adding an RT would affect the facility’s report.

Lyons said what he has seen in the hospitals his company does reports for, Medicare typically picks up 70 to 75% of the cost of the RT program.

According to discussions, the respiratory therapist would be willing to relocate to Buffalo to run the program if approved by the board, which the board voted to do.
