Grand Teton NP Records Busiest Year On Record In 2021

Tourists and visitors were out in numbers last year, and all three of Wyoming’s National Parks broke records for recreational visits.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Yellowstone National Park broke its visitation record by about 600,000 visitors last year.

Devils Tower reported that its record was broken last year by about 51,000 visitors.

Grand Teton National Park has released final numbers for 2021, and the park has joined the club.

More than 3.88 million visitors passed through the entrance gates, beating its old record of 3.49 million visitors in 2018, which is a difference of almost 400,000 visitors.

The park also says six of the 12 months in 2021, had their highest ever recreational visits for that month, with July 2021 being the busiest month ever, with more than 835,000 visits.

The old monthly record was more than 795,000 visits set in July 2018.

The other months that set records were January, March, April, May and June.

Trail use in Grand Teton National Park in 2021, was up about 21% compared to 2019, and is up about 49% compared to 2017.

Out of all the National Parks in the US, Grand Teton was 7th in terms of recreational visits for 2021, while Yellowstone was 3rd.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park which is located on the Tennessee-North Carolina border was 1st, and Zion National Park in Utah was second.
