Ron RichterA sentencing hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a 26-year-old Sheridan man charged with multiple crimes related to drugs. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the story.
On June 10, Kolter Kekich, pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, changed his plea on four charges stemming from three separate cases between December of last year and March of this year. Kekich pleaded “guilty” to three felony drug possession charges, two for methamphetamine, one for marijuana, and one count of misdemeanor defrauding a drug or alcohol test.
At a sentencing hearing in District Court Thursday, Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the State, and sentenced Kekich to 2 ½ to 4 years in prison for each of the felonies, with the sentences running concurrent to one another. The drug possession charges were prosecuted as felonies due to the fact that Kekich has had at least three previous similar convictions of drug possession. Kekich received 172 days credit for time served. Judge Fenn also ordered Kekich to pay $975 in various court costs and fees.
