Aaron PalmerDuring this week’s meeting, the Johnson County Commission discussed the possibility of a rent increase for the T-Hangars at the county airport.
According to Commissioner Robert Perry, commission liaison to the Airport Board, the board had voted to adopt an increase of 3% this year, and another 2% increase the following year, or 5% over the next two years.
The commission discussed the increase and when to implement it, which may be difficult due to the different months that the annual leases are up.
The commission thought about setting a specific date, such as January 1st, for the increase but that might mean some lessees could pay the lesser amount per month until the increase takes effect.
The commission, on the advice of Civil Deputy County Attorney Barry Crago, tabled the issue until their next meeting to give him time to review the leases and make a recommendation.
