Dr. Schueler: COVID Case Numbers are Encouraging
Johnson County Public Health Officer Dr. Mark Schueler, during Tuesday’s COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center briefing, said numbers of new COVID cases nationwide are dropping, and that is encouraging.
He said according to the New York Times, daily rates for infections in the US are at about 55,000 cases, which is the lowest its been since October 15th, so there is a dramatic decrease in cases, and he discussed why.
Schueler said another encouraging bit of information he had read from the State Health Department says those that have been immunized against COVID and are then exposed to someone that is COVID positive, are no longer considered a contact and not required to quarantine.
Dr. Schueler discussed variants of the virus found in the UK and in South Africa, and we will have more on that in an upcoming story.
