Lummis, Barrasso oppose impeachment

Wyoming’s U. S. senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis have separately issued statements opposing the recent impeachment trial that ended with acquittal of former President Donald J. Trump.
Both called the trial “unconstitutional,” and Lummis called the trial a distraction that prevented Congress from addressing very real issues that Wyoming citizens are dealing with.
She said Congress could have been working on a bipartisan COVID relief package to help struggling businesses, could have been working to safely reopen schools as health experts have recommended and could have been marking up the POWER Act to ensure American energy independence. Instead, she said, Congress spent the last week trying to impeach a private citizen from an office he no longer holds, at the expense of American taxpayers.
Lummis said she is concerned that the Democrats have set a dangerous precedent that enables any former president to be subjected to similar action.
Barrasso said with the trial now over, it’s time for Congress to move forward. He said there is important work to be done for the people of Wyoming and for the country, and Congress can start by working together to bring back jobs, get children safely back to school and putting the COVID virus behind us.
Barrasso added the violence and mayhem of Jan. 6 will never be forgotten. He said he continues to reflect on the bravery of the men and women who protected the nation’s Capitol that day, and honor those who lost their lives in service.

Opposing anything a Democrat does is the norm for these corporate puppets.Guilty is guilty…no matter who it is…do the crime …do the time.

Both of these elected people appear besotted by power, money and/or status. Believe what they say at your own risk. They watched a real attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power in the United States by physical force after an election. Such an attempt has never occurred in the nation’s history up to now. They watched this attempt by a politician wanting to stay in power despite losing an election. They watched that politician, who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, embrace a mob who killed a police officer, went looking to lynch the vice president of the United States, and overtook and occupied the capitol of the US. These Senators from Wyoming said nothing. They did nothing. In my opinion, neither of these people have integrity or honor and can not be trusted to defend our country from all enemies, internal or external. I suggest you don’t trust what they say, but watch what they do to know who they represent.
