Advocacy Center Invites Public to Light up the Night for Survivors of Domestic Violence
Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center Executive Director Yvonne Shirey and Assistant Director Rhonda Weber appeared on Sheridan Media’s Pulse inviting the community to observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month by attending an event developed by advocates.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is observed each October. The month gives communities an opportunity to recognize and celebrate survivors as well as remember and honor victims. The Advocacy Center traditionally holds marches against family violence during the daylight hours. This year, they want to light up the night.

Participants will join the awareness walk with purple lights and have access to information about support resources. Weber said the event is intended to bring people together and remind survivors they have a community behind them.
The Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center “Make the Night Bright” begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Grinnell Plaza in Sheridan.
