The Spicy Pickles Bring Grooves That Move to The WYO
The WYO Theater has announced they will host The Spicy Pickles featuring vocalist Hannah Rodriguez at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Sheridan.
The Denver based eight piece band was originally formed to play for swing dancers and continues to deliver music designed to keep audiences moving. Over time, the group expanded its sound beyond classic big band swing to incorporate funk, soul and pop influences while maintaining groove driven arrangements that appeal to a wide range of listeners.
Inspired by artists such as Count Basie and Fats Waller as well as James Brown, the band blends vintage jazz style with modern energy. The ensemble features musicians from Denver’s jazz and funk scenes and performs with horn driven arrangements and an energetic stage presence.
Rodriguez adds a soulful vocal element to the performance, bringing a dynamic stage style that complements the band’s sound.
The group has performed at festivals and venues across the country including the Telluride Jazz Festival, the Sun Valley Jazz and Music Festival and the Redwood Coast Music Festival. Their original music has also appeared in commercials and in the film The Killing of a Sacred Deer starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Alicia Silverstone.
Tickets cost $25 for adults, $21 for seniors and military members and $16 for students. Tickets are available at the WYO Theater box office or online at wyotheater.com.
