JCSD1 Board Adopts Concealed Carry Policy First Read
The Johnson County School District has adopted on first reading a new policy to outline expectations and responsibilities concerning the carrying of concealed firearms on school property.
Earlier this year, the Wyoming Legislature passed House Bill 0172 (HB0172) that allows stakeholders (including employees) to carry a concealed firearm on school grounds.
The district has drafted a policy and an entry into the District Employee Handbook to address the new law.
Superintendent Charles Auzqui discussed the policy with the board.
Auzqui said the JCSD1 policy was very similar to one drafted by attorneys for another district in the state.
