Natural Resources Coordinator for the City of Sheridan, Clark Van Hoosier made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss mosquito prevention.

According to Van Hoosier, the City Weed and Pest utilizes a combination of methods to aid in their efforts to control the mosquito population that have the potential to not only spread viruses, such as West Nile, but are a nuisance to residents.

Van Hoosier said he and his team are very conscious of the environmental impacts of introducing chemicals and pesticides to the area. The larvicide used to cut down the mosquito population is safe for use in still water containing invertebrates and other animal life.
