Captain of the Sheridan Police Department, Tom Ringley, and Lieutenant James Hill made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss SPD transparency.
The SPD Captain said first and foremost, it is the right of the public to know what the SPD is doing within the community.
Capt. T. Ringley
The department gathers and analyzes the activity in the city after each officer’s shift. The information provides insights to the activity and performance of patrol teams, it also provides a quick insight to possible trends. The department then publishes that information for the public every night/day shift rotation of 56 days. But the SPD must stay within Wyoming State Statutes, such as but not limited to State Statute Section 14.4.4 regarding what information is released.
Through the release of the Activity Summary, Hill said the public can be aware of policing activities throughout the community.
