During the meeting of the Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center Wednesday night, CEO Luke Senden, in his report, said he was informed by the facility’s employee healthcare insurance carrier that there is a possibility they may see a jump in their liability of 30% in the coming year.

He explained why.

Senden said the company is working to try to bring that liability down by “lasering” some employees.

The board discussed the possibility of changing carriers to find a lower liability rate, but Senden said they hadn’t seen an increase in the last two years, and didn’t feel like it was the right move at this time.

He said if the JCHC sees another large increase next year, that may be a discussion the board needs to have.
