Executive Director of the Sheridan Community Land Trust, Brad Bauer made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the new rules on The Soldier Ridge Trail System.

The Soldier Ridge Trail System is located primarily on private land. Landowners have requested the trail be open from dawn to dusk and closed to the public at night. These rules have been in place for some time. Bauer said the Soldier Ridge Trail System was closed during the Elk Fire due to people accessing the trail system after it had closed at dusk. He said many people probably just didn’t realize the trail was closed during the nighttime hours.

SCLT has created larger signage and posted those where they are easily seen for trail users. One of the rules requires the use of leashes on the trail when walking with one’s dog. To help trail users who like to enjoy the area with their dogs, SCLT has begun the Lend-A-Leash program.

Soldier Ridge Trail is now open and Bauer said leashes will be hung at the entrances to Soldier Ridge Trail, Hidden Hoot Trail and Double Eagle Trail.

The Red Grade Trail system remains closed as members of the Wyoming Interagency Incident Management Type 3 Team are currently performing rehabilitation work on the trail.
