Winter Storm Watch Issued For Bighorn Mountains – October 17-18, 2024

Some much needed precipitation to help combat the Elk Fire is finally on its way.

The National Weather Service in both Billings, Montana and in Riverton, Wyoming has issued a winter storm watch for the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming and Montana.

The watch also includes the town of Story and will be in effect from 6am Thursday, October 17th until 6pm on Friday, October 18th.

The Weather Service office in Billings is projecting between 7 to 13 inches of snow in the Burgess Junction area.

    I hope that any precipitation in the mountain areas will put an end to any fires still burning after this extremely hot summer that we have experienced this summer. Thankyou to God for this beauty he surrounds us with everyday. And we promise to take care of it everyday of our lives.

    I don’t really like Snow but it’s really good for the Elk Fire here in Sheridan, Wyoming. We also need Rain.
