With an anticipated weather change tomorrow, being winds out of the south, and as fast as the fire has been moving, the Little Horn Canyon cabin group could be imminently impacted tomorrow, 10/1/2024. Residents of the Little Horn Canyon should please consider this a “READY” notification at this time for evacuation.

The Forest Closure Order has been updated. The northern portion of the Tongue Ranger District north of highways 14 and 14a is closed. This order is being put in place to protect firefighter and visitor safety. The area is being heavily used by firefighters, including large equipment.

The town of Dayton is NOT under an evacuation notice at this time. Fire crews continue to focus on structures protection along the face of the mountain along Pass Creek toward Dayton, WY.

If you have campers or other equipment in the closure area, you are not able to retrieve those items. If the area is closed it is for your safety and is closed to all citizen traffic.

Road Closures:

• Highway 14 (Between Dayton and Burgess Junction)

• Pass Creek Road (County Road 144 from the intersection of Highway 345 and Pass Creek Road)

• Twin Creek Road (Access off of Railway Ave in Parkman)

• Smith Creek Road (Intersection of Highway 343 and Smith Creek Road)

• Tongue Canyon Road (at the River Road)
