Johnson County Emergency Management Coordinator James Cataline spoke to the county commission during their recent meeting to explain the preparations happening in Campbell County, who will be hosting the International Pathfinder Camporee later this summer.

He said the event is scheduled for August 5-11 and county EMCs are communicating for all to be prepared for the influx of people.

According to their website, https://www.camporee.org/, the event is expected to draw 55,000-plus Pathfinders from over 100 countries to play, share, learn and worship together.

Cataline said neighboring counties, including Johnson County, need to be prepared for possible overflow of people from Campbell County.

There are potential problems concerning food, gas, and medical supplies; impacts to local traffic, hotel booking problems, and other concerns.

Cataline said there are meetings happening with area EMCs, training, and communication to help reduce problems that may occur with the event.
