Sheridan Memorial Hospital and The Foundation Chief Development Officer Cody Sinclair and Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation Director of Philanthropy Liz Dearcorn made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the ongoing fundraising efforts by the Foundation for the “Growing for You” campaign.

The campaign is raising funds for an ambitious project as SMH plans to build a system of care in Sheridan County to ensure those struggling with mental health have “a place to go.”

Sinclair said the hospital conducts a community needs assessment every three years, asking the Sheridan community what they feel is most important for them in regards to care.

The needs for mental health care in Sheridan has been on the minds of SMH leadership for some time. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, resources were made available to expand mental health care availability. But starting from scratch came with a heavy price tag, so SMH made the decision to utilize existing space at the facility.

Expected to begin caring for patients early 2027, the SMH Behavioral Health Unit will offer outpatient psychiatric care, acute crisis stabilization and inpatient psychiatric treatment to ensure members of the community can receive mental healthcare in Sheridan.

The campaign goal is $15 million, half of what building a new facility would cost. The Foundation has secured all but $1.2 million.

Sheridan Media will have more on the “Growing for You” campaign and the interview with Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Development Officer Cody Sinclair and Director of Philanthropy Liz Dearcorn in upcoming stories.
