Marilyn Connolly Declares Candidacy for State House District 40
BUFFALO, WY – Marilyn Connolly, a long-time Johnson County native and former Johnson County Commissioner, has announced her candidacy for State House District 40.
A dedicated public servant, Connolly has been involved in the Johnson County Republican party for the last 20 years. Her extensive experience serving on local boards and committees has given her a deep understanding of the importance of fiscal responsibility and prioritizing needs over wants in budgeting.
“As a long-time Republican and long-time member of the community, I understand the necessity of strong conservative policymaking to address the needs of Wyoming,” Marilyn stated. “My years of service as county commissioner, along with local and state boards, have taught me the value of fiscal responsibility and the importance of developing proactive policies.”
Connolly’s years of dedication and service are extensive and are consistent with a service-first attitude.
She has been actively involved with the Senior Center, Rural Health Care Special District, the Northern Wyoming Mental Health Board, for a brief time, the Search and Rescue Council, Homeland Security initiatives as the emergency management coordinator, and the governor’s emergency medical services (EMS) subcommittee.
“When you serve on local boards, you know what it means to operate on a tight budget but still find a way to get the mission done,” said Connolly. “I believe the state legislature could use more of that conservative budgeting mindset, and I could bring it.”
Serving on state boards also has informed Connolly’s understanding of the need to be proactive in policy development.
“I am running for the State House because I believe in proactive legislative action. The issues our national delegation has to address impact our local community, and the legislature serves an important role in either pushing back or implementing laws that protect Wyoming. I want to ensure the voices of the people of House District 40 are heard.”
Connolly believes it’s important to remember what happens in Cheyenne has a direct impact on the ground.
“Raising my children in Buffalo as a single mother of four and grandmother to 10 grandchildren, I understand we must be forward thinking in the needs of our community for the next generation. We must make a way for our families to stay in Wyoming, and we do that with good, conservative policy-making. I want to bring the practical side of policy-making and keep Wyoming truly a citizen legislature.”
Connolly also values communication. She has also served as a public information officer and was the founder and original publisher of the local Mini Newspaper before selling the enterprise, keeping the community informed and engaged.
“I have seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing our community,” Connolly emphasized. “I am committed to advocating for Johnson County and Sheridan County’s needs, including robust local services, a thriving local economy, and proactive, fiscally conservative policymaking.”
Marilyn Connolly’s experience, dedication, and deep roots in the District make her the ideal candidate to represent State House District 40. Her proactive approach and community-focused agenda will ensure that local voices are heard and represented at the state level.
