Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley, Lieutenant Dan Keller and Communications Technician Cyndi Shepherd-Godwin stopped by Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to recognize the hard working communications technicians of the SPD.
Shepherd-Godwin has served the Sheridan community as a communications technician for 24 years. Initially she joined for the benefits and to find a new career. But over time, found a professional environment and team that has grown to be more like family.
The job of communications technician involves a mountain of multitasking, crisis intervention, crisis management, and the ability to listen to detail under some of the most stressful situations imaginable.

Because of this, communications technicians attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy, just as their patrol officer peers. They must receive certifications and hours upon hours of in-house training. Having seen the advances in communications technology and comms techniques, Shepard-Godwin is one the SPD’s most valued trainers as well.
