The 240-plus acre Story House Village broke ground Thursday, Aug. 31. Located on 5th Street north of the Industrial Lane intersection, the development is looking to provide affordable and attainable housing for veterans in need and for those in the workforce.

Chief Executive Officer of Story House, Sean Patrick Higgins, made an appearance on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse to give an update on recent developments.

As the development moves forward, Story House has made efforts to look into alternative environmentally friendly systems. With a unique topography to work with and to be good stewards of the land, Higgins said Story House has invested into the research of an onsite wastewater treatment system that has already proven its worth at Big Horn High School.

An ordinance to rezone just over 38 acres of property from B-2 Business District to a Planned Unit Development was approved on first reading on Jan. 15, by the Sheridan City Council.

Higgins said there are some designs that still need to be completed and readings and approval are needed, but Story House is hoping to begin vertical construction before the end of the year.
