A report of an active shooter inside the school at Buffalo High School Monday morning turned out to be “no threat to public safety,” according to a release from the Buffalo Police Department.

The release said that Monday morning, April 3, at approximately 8:25 a.m., Buffalo Police Officers and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to BHS for a report of an active shooter inside the school.

School administrators were notified of the potential threat.

Additional agencies responded to the call to assist, and entered the school.

Law enforcement officers searched, cleared and secured the building, and determined there is no threat to public safety.

Similar unsubstantiated calls have apparently been made to schools throughout the state.

There will be an increased presence of law enforcement in the area of the schools, according to the release.
