Ron RichterThe City of Sheridan will move forward in applying for funding to conduct the Sheridan Lake DeSmet Water Supply Study. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The City Council, at their most recent meeting, approved a resolution to apply for a level two funding request through the Wyoming Water Development Commission to perform the study. City Utilities Director Dan Roberts said a 2019 level one study funded by the WWDC recommended that Lake DeSmet be Sheridan’s highest and best consideration for long term water supply needs of the community. Roberts said the funding request will be considered by the WWDC in May of this year.
Roberts said the WWDC’s program provides for 100 percent of the costs of awarded level two feasibility study grants. The resolution to apply for the funding was approved unanimously by the City Council.

I agree, are there no alternate water sources in Sheridan county? Municipalities need to live within their means with water as well as funding. If there’s not enough water for expansion then maybe expansion isn’t viable. Can Sheridan county not increase their current water supply through creating reservoirs to capture the water that already passes through their county?
