Aaron PalmerState Senator Dave Kinskey, in his weekly talk on the legislative session Wednesday, said although the preliminary budget was approved last Friday, there is still some work remaining before the final budget bill is accepted and passed by the legislature.
He said the chambers, after the weekend break, came back this week to see where they differed and where they agreed.
According to Kinskey the next step is for each chamber to appoint five members to a Joint Conference Committee that will discuss and work through the differences in each chamber’s budget, with some preliminary work that needs done beforehand.
The job of the Joint Conference Committee will be to compromise and reach a combined budget that will be acceptable to both the House of Representatives and the Senate to pass.
We will have more from Sentaor Kinskey in upcoming stories.
