Aaron PalmerThe Retirement of longtime Sheridan County Airport Manager John Stopka prompted the county commission to search for a new manager to take over and move the facility into the future.
The search ended with Robert Gill, who started his new position January 1.
Gill explains why he wanted the job.
Gill said the county used a consulting firm for a nationwide search for a new airport manager, but he applied on his own and was chosen by them for the position.
He said as far as future plans for the airport are concerned, he hasn’t really thought much farther than the next few years and completing the current capital construction project, but he thinks the airport is a good one.
Gill said he would eventually like to see some new hangars built at the airport, but with construction costs as high as they are currently, he believes that will be a few years down the road.
His focus, he said, is keeping the plan they have in place moving forward.

Sure would be nice if you made it a priority to salt and clear the runway so we dont get stuck here after getting up at 3 am…
