Harriet Declines Elected Office of Johnson County Clerk
Kate Harriet, who won the election for Johnson County Clerk and was scheduled to take the position in January, has withdrawn from the position.
According to County Commissioner Bill Novotny, the commission received a letter from her announcing her intent to withdraw due to health issues.
That now sparks action to find a replacement to take the position.
Novotny, in a letter to Johnson County Republican Party Chairman Robert Garrison, asked him to convene the Central Committee to select three candidates whose names will be forwarded to the commissioners, who will then appoint one of them to the position.
The Central Committee will have 15 days once they are officially informed to make their decision.
