Sentencing Hearing

On April 14, 20-year-old James Cossel, at a hearing in District Court, changed his plea to guilty on the charges of delivery of a controlled substance – THC, and delivery of a controlled substance – LSD. At sentencing Thursday, District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement that was reached between the defendant and the state and sentenced Cossel to 2 to 5 years in prison for the THC charge, and 3 to 5 years in prison for the LSD charge. Both sentences are suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation and the sentences will run concurrent to one another.

Cossel was ordered to report to Probation and Parole immediately to advise them of the sentence. He was also ordered to pay $575 in various court costs and fees and will be given credit for time served.
