During this week’s meeting of the Northern Wyoming Community College District held in Buffalo, one citizen spoke during the public comment portion of their agenda, saying he was against the proposed land swap between Sheridan College and the Wyoming National Guard.

David Black said the current National Guard Armory in Sheridan would not be suitable for use by the college, and that the community college district-owned land that is proposed for the swap is larger and likely worth more than the armory property.

He said the college has coveted the armory property for a long time.

He asked the board if they have had a feasibility study performed on the armory property to see if it would be useful for classrooms or administrative office spaces.

His opinion is he sees no cost benefit of a swap of 21 acres for 6 acres and a building, that the college can’t use for 25 years.

He said the swap amounts to trading a Cadillac for a Yugo.
