Trails Board Wants City to Adopt Trail

The Buffalo Trails Board has approached the city asking them to adopt a trail into the city’s trail system.

Trails Board Chairperson Ed Van Holst explained that the trail has been worked by a private individual and the board wants to add it to the trail system.

Von Holst said he had spoken with City Works Director Les Hook who didn’t see an issue with the city adopting the trail.

The trails board would maintain the trail as part of the system if it is adopted by the city, he said.

City Attorney Ben Kirven was asked what needed to be done legally for the city to adopt the trail, and he will look into the issue and discuss the matter with the council in the future.

Von Holst will also bring maps of the trail area to the council for them to review before making a decision.
