The U.S. Service Academy and ROTC to hold an informational event 

 On Saturday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., four Service Academies – U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – and four college ROTC Programs – Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy – will host a U.S. Service Academy, ROTC, and Congressional Information Event at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper.

Listed as some of the most prestigious schools in the nation, these academies have some of the highest admission requirements. For example, the U.S. Air Force Academy is considered the most selective of the listed schools and had an acceptance rate of just 13% last year. Fifty percent of those applicants admitted to the United States Air Force Academy scored between 1220 and 1430 on their SAT (1220 being the top 78th percentile nationally out of the 1.7 million of those who took the SAT entrance exam) or have an ACT score of 29 and 33. 

The Military Service Academies are federally funded institutions.  All students receive a full scholarship including tuition, room and board, and complete medical coverage. 

According to the U.S. Navy Office of Community Outreach, this event provides the opportunity for parents and students to join representatives from the Academies and ROTC Programs regarding the various Academy and ROTC/NROTC application processes, attending a military academy or ROTC/NROTC program, and serving as a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Forces. This is also an opportunity to hear from representatives of the Congressional Delegations regarding how they can assist students gain a nomination to a Service Academy.

Kelly Walsh High School in Casper is located at 3500 E. 12th Street, Casper, WY. Participants are requested to enter the school grounds via the parking lot off of Walsh Drive and enter the school building via the center main entrance.
