Sheridan Woman Changes Plea on Felony Charge in District Court

A 30-year-old Sheridan woman changed her plea on a felony charge at a hearing Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Jenny Wegener pleaded “guilty” to the charge of Endangering Children. On May 27, Wegener was arrested at a residence in Sheridan County for knowingly being in possession of methamphetamine with a minor present in the home. The plea agreement recommends a sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison, suspended in lieu of a six month split-sentence and three years of supervised probation.
District Court Judge John Fenn told Wegener that the Court is not bound by the terms of the plea agreement and may reject the plea deal altogether at sentencing. Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the sentencing date for January 6 at 9:45 am. Wegener’s bond was revoked and she was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center.
