Buffalo city employees will be able to utilize equipment at the Buffalo Athletic Club (BAC) to improve their health if a contract approved by the city council is accepted by the club.

City Attorney Ben Kirven, during the city council meeting this week, said he had received a contract proposal from BAC owner Tucker Alger that he felt was not workable, and he drafted a contract that was more in line with similar service contracts the city has currently and utilized in the past.

In Kirven’s revised contract proposal, the city will pay the BAC $300 per month for the city employee’s access to the facility for one year beginning January 1st 2020.

He explained more about the proposed contract.

The council asked Kirven to discuss the possibility of tracking the usage by city employees during the year for a end-of-year review to determine if the program was being utilized before the contract is renewed for 2021.

The proposed contract was approved by the council, and will now be presented to Alger for his approval.
