Wyoming Will Be Home to Groundbreaking Advanced Nuclear Reactor

U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming, ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, spoke at a news conference in Cheyenne Wednesday to announce that TerraPower will build its first Natrium advanced nuclear reactor in the state of Wyoming.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said the selection of Wyoming as the site for the construction and operation of an advanced nuclear power plant through the joint efforts of the the Department of Energy, TerraPower and Rocky Mountain Power, is game changing and monumental for the State.
Gordon said the development of a nuclear energy facility will bring welcome tax revenue to Wyoming’s state budget, which has seen a significant decline in recent years. This demonstration project creates opportunities for both PacifiCorp and local communities to provide well-paying and long-term jobs for workers in Wyoming communities that have decades of energy expertise.
TerraPower Chairman and Founder Bill Gates spoke via video link at the news conference, and said 15 years ago he assembled a group of experts to explore the technologies necessary to solve the dual challenges of global energy poverty and climate change.
The location of the Natrium demonstration plant is expected to be announced by the end of 2021.

I wonder how much corporate socialism and welfare these communist republicans offered to get this in Wyoming? How much of our tax money is going to this project to make one of the richest men on the planet even richer?

There are STILL no existing facilities for safe permanent storage of high level nuclear waste anywhere on the planet, let alone within the United States. Finland will finally be opening a facility for long term storage in 2023. The US has been working on getting approval for one site since 1987 and it still isn’t approved. WHY in the world would we want a nuclear facility in Wyoming?

Because this is the easiest state to push it through with the complicit politicians and laws that are set up to benefit energy companies at the expense of the Wyoming citizens.
