The next Hathaway Scholarship Orientation Course will be offered on Tuesday, February 9th.

The orientations, held the second Tuesday of each month, are designed to help Wyoming school districts spread the word about the scholarship, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Education.

The release explains that in 1974, Governor Stan Hathaway created the Wyoming Permanent Mineral Trust Fund, which supports state government operations, including higher education.

In 2005, lawmakers created the Hathaway Scholarship Program using the Permanent Mineral Trust Fund.

The Hathaway Scholarship is for qualified students who graduate from a Wyoming High School and plan to attend the University of Wyoming or one of the state’s seven community colleges.

The orientation, for those new to the program or who want a content refresher, will be February 9th beginning at 9am.

Each session lasts about 45 minutes, and at the end of each session, attendees still in the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a “Hathaway Swag Bag.”
