Century 21 BHJ Realty donated checks of over $1,200 each to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter and Sheridan Area Search and Rescue Friday at the Century 21 offices.

Bruce Garber, who’s broker/owner of the company, said the donations come from Century 21 agents.

He said everyone in the company can submit the name of a nonprofit organization they believe should be a recipient of the funds.

The organizations nominated are then submitted to a vote, and Garber said there are usually two or three that come to the top in the selections.

He said the number of recipients varies from year to year, with more organizations chosen in some years. This year, he said, Century 21 chose to restrict recipients to two and make larger donations.

Sheridan Area Search and Rescue is an organization of volunteers that operate under the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department.
