On Saturday evening, Rooted in Wyoming raked in an upbeat crowd at Luminous Brew House in Sheridan for their one-time fundraiser this year.  People could hear the live band through the streets.  They could even hear the music in Hawaii!  Yes, that was due to streaming, but it showed that the enthusiasm abounded.  The people who stayed at home sent words of thanks when their requests were played.

Luminous Brew House was jam-packed.  That was with people, not berries.  An hour and a half into the evening, over 200 raffle tickets were sold. There were over 70 items in the auction such as local art, special dinners, lodging, golf, and locally-raised beef.

“It’s live and it’s local!” Matt Brazier, a more-than-pleased fan from Buffalo sang out. Ashley Ellington said, “The atmosphere is amazing and so is the live auction.”  It was Conner Erickson’s first time in Sheridan.  Even though alternative rock is his favorite music, he said he loved the live music and acoustic vibe.

Board member, Chip King, was very happy to be able to raise money for Rooted in Wyoming’s partnership with the school district and to provide food for the children who are involved.

Hannah Morneau is an intern with Rooted in Wyoming.  She said she loves gardening and working with the kids.  She was very pleased with the popularity of the online auction and how generous this community is.

Luminous Brew House general manager, Jonny Law, said, “It’s huge for us to be able to support Wyoming, specifically Sheridan.”  He pointed out the value in teaching the next generation about agriculture along with having partnerships with local farmers.  Law went on to mention some of the ingredients he uses in his flavorful beers such as wild hops, spruce tips, dandelions, and honey.  He and Rooted in Wyoming are in unison with being community-focused.

Rooted in Wyoming’s harvest was a great success. “We’re counting our blessings today!” Executive Director, Lise Foy, declared.  On Sunday, she was able to share the results:  $50,000 was brought in.  The Standish family matched that. So $100,000 will be put to good use as new gardens are created for 2,000 students to learn hands-on what gardening is all about and how this community can benefit from partaking of the goods they can grow.

Raffle tickets will continue to be sold throughout this week with the winner being drawn on Friday.
