Pat BlairPrimary election results reported Tuesday night are complete, but they won’t be official until after Thursday.
Sheridan County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson said that’s when the votes in the primary election will be canvased, starting at 11 a.m. in the county election office.
Thompson said the canvas board includes her as county clerk plus one Democrat and one Republican. She said this year, Dick Kuzara will represent the Democratic party and Holly Jennings, the Republicans.
Thompson said in years past, the vote canvas has taken anywhere from a few hours to most of the day as the canvasing board goes through precinct-by-precinct reports from election judges.
During the canvas is also the time when the board will determine if any individuals submitted as write-in candidates on the ballots received enough votes to advance to the general election ballot in November.
Thompson said in addition to receiving enough votes to qualify to be on the November ballot, a write-in candidate must also accept the nomination.
