For 12 years Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns has hosted the Wolf Creek Wrangle, a fundraising 5K, 10K and half marathon running event held at the historic Eaton’s Ranch in Wolf, Wyoming.

According to Habitat for Humanity resource development and volunteer coordinator Sydney Meyers, in past years, the event has drawn people from as far as New Jersey to participate in the run. Last year, over 160 runners participated while approximately 300 people attended the event as spectators of Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns’ largest fundraising event of the year.

Amid COVID-19 guidelines the Wolf Creek Wrangle has had to limit the number of runners in the event this year. Along with limiting the 5K and 10K to only 25 runners each, the half-marathon will not be taking place.

Although the event has featured a virtual run for the past three years, this year will be critical in raising funds. People can still be involved and support Habitat for Humanity by participating in the virtual run and posting their times online.

Habitat for Humanity has also added a scavenger hunt to run for four weeks prior to the race. The scavenger hunt can be found on Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorn’s Facebook page.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Habitat for Humanity of the Eatern Bighorns executive director Christine Dieterich gave some examples of what runners should be looking out for while they are out training.
