Residents can spend an evening having a picnic and enjoying live music at the Kendrick Mansion – officially named Trail End – during the 6th annual Summer Evening at the Mansion.
John B. Kendrick was a penniless orphan when he came up the Texas Trail to Wyoming in 1879, according to Trail End Historic Site superintendent Sharie Shada.
Here, Kendrick made his fortune in ranching and real estate, and later went on to serve as Governor and U. S. Senator from Wyoming. Completed in 1913, Trail End was built to be his retirement home.
Trail End was given to the State of Wyoming and it opened as a historic house museum with the name Trails End State Historic Site in 1982.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Shada told listeners the Summer Evening at the Mansion is the organization’s way of thanking Sheridan County residents for their support through the years.
The Summer Evening at the Mansion begins at 6 p.m., July 22, and will conclude at 8 p.m. Live music will be performed by the Top Ten Band. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy lawn games while also observing COVID-19 safety guidelines and proper social distancing.
