The Sheridan Community Land Trust will host its second “First Tracks Volunteer Dig” work night on Tuesday, June 30.

Volunteers will help finish tread on another portion of SCLT’s newest trail – The Link, which is part of the Soldier Ridge Trail System.

Volunteers will have an opportunity to put the “first tracks” on a new portion of The Link, according to a SCLT press release.

Along with digging and raking the trail, volunteers will be packing the trail surface. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite bike, hiking or running shoes to help pack the surface.

Volunteers will meet at Soldier Ridge Trailhead at 5 p.m.

After the initial meeting, the team will drive to the job site. The work is expected to take approximately two hours.

What to bring: Sturdy shoes or hiking boots, gloves, water, and a hard-toothed rake (if owned).

What to expect: Volunteers will learn some of trail building basics, including grading, drainage and beautification. This event will involve labor-intensive trail building and finishing methods.

Some snacks and drinks will be provided.

Volunteers must complete SCLT’s volunteer release at https://sheridanclt.org/volunteer-individual-release/ before attending.
