Pat BlairSheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.
One death from Spanish influenza has been reported for the 24 hours ending at noon today, Dec. 3. W. T. Weller, recently operating one of the Home ranches three miles south of Sheridan, died at 11:30 o’clock last night from influenza complications.
Four cases of influenza were reported to County Health Officer Hurd yesterday, and 11 were reported for Sunday.
Thomas Newman has just resumed work as motorman on the city street railway after an eight-weeks’ wrestle with the influenza.
Owing to the influenza epidemic, a report of the enrollment of city schools has been unavailable until now. It has now been computed that enrollment on Oct. 8, when the schools closed, was just over 1,300.
