Pat BlairSheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.
Eight new cases of influenza were reported yesterday to County Health Officer Hurd, three more than were reported on the previous day. No deaths from the malady were reported in Sheridan for the 24 hours that ended at noon today, Nov. 23, but one was reported from Kooi. That death was a 3-year-old child, whose death is attributed to influenza complications.
For the first time since Oct. 10, the date of the first death from influenza in Sheridan, churches will be opened tomorrow for divine worship.
However, owing to the fact that a large number of families in Sheridan are afflicted with the prevailing epidemic, there will be no services at all held at the Baptist church.
