Pat BlairWork on Sagebrush Elementary School is “kind of in the final stretch,” according to Mathers Heuck, who’s facilities director for Sheridan County School District 2.
Renovations are expected to be complete by the end of this summer, with an essentially new school to greet students when classes start next fall.
Contracts for new furniture were approved by School District 2 trustees at their meeting in March, and Heuck said the school’s custodial staff is now shuffling materials from old classroom areas to new, and delivery of the new furniture is expected to start in July.
Heuck said Sagebrush is a 36-year-old building, and a lot of the major components had reached the end of their useful lives.
Heuck said there was a major renovation of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system as well as renovations in other areas of the building including plumbing and flooring. Lighting was also updated.
Heuck said the work has brought Sagebrush essentially to a new school.
