Join Science Kids and SCLT as they welcome the Great Blue Herons back to Sheridan

The blue herons are returning to the Sheridan area to roost and Science Kids and Sheridan Community Land Trust would like you to join them as they observe these large birds strive to strengthen nests and prepare to rear the next generation.
Herons at Home is entering its tenth year. Participants will join Dr. Julie Rieder of Science Kids during this family-friendly hour as the first 2025 Unplug Discovery Session series celebrates the return of the Great Blue Herons from their winter migration.
Rieder is an ecologist who enjoys teaching anything about birds. She will share stories about the fascinating lives of herons while guests observe the herons in their natural habitat.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Dr. Rider said you never know what these birds will do while preparing their nests and courting.

Participants are encouraged to dress for weather and bring binoculars or a spotting scope if you should own them but Science Kids will have a few available.
Those wishing to take part should meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Sportsman’s Warehouse parking lot.
